Yogurt with Figs & Honey
The first time I visited Greece I tried the delicious, thick yogurt topped with honey and nuts for breakfast. Wow! What smooth sweet flavor and nice way to start the day. At home I like to make this as a light breakfast or a healthy dessert. The addition of pistachios and a splash of rose water make the dish unique.
Ingredients
- Greek Yogurt – such as Fage
- Bunch of ripe figs
- Chopped pistachios
- Honey
- Rosewater
Recipe
Chop stems off of figs and cut a deep X through the them so they are split open. Place several figs in a small ramekin and pour a tablespoon or two of honey on them, along with a tablespoon of water and splash of rose water.
Bake in the oven at 350 for 20 minutes, or until tender and fragrant. (MMMM….the roses should be making an appearance now!)
Scoop yogurt into a bowl and top with the fig/honey/rose water mixture followed by a sprinkling of pistachios. Enjoy!

My fig tree is currently dripping with fruit, so this is a very timely recipe suggestion.
Nice work on setting this up, Lexi — I plan to be a regular reader!
Thanks so much Carroll! I am envious you have your very own fig tree! The site is a work in progress and it will be fun working on it and sharing.
